Nike and SKIMS are officially stepping into the footwear space together, with the upcoming release of a reworked Air Rift. Marking the first sneaker collaboration between the two brands, the collection reintroduces the split-toe runner in eight new styles designed in NikeSKIMS’ signature minimalist aesthetic.
"There’s something so powerful and beautiful about a ballet flat, which is why reimagining the Nike Rift for the first NikeSKIMS sneaker felt perfect," said Kim Kardashian. "The Rift isn’t just a shoe – it’s a 90s icon that women everywhere have fallen in love with. Together with Nike, we focused on creating a version that feels minimalist, sleek and flattering."

The NikeSKIMS Rift collection includes a number of mesh-based pairs several satin-covered options. Official photos of some styles confirm exactly how the shoe design from 1996 has been modified. Nike Air technology seems to have been stripped away in favor of a thinner sole unit. Upper construction has also been reduced to produce a near-barefoot feel. SKIMS branding is present throughout the project—including S-shaped rubber tread underfoot.
When it launched, Air Rift was Nike’s first sneaker to feature a natural motion split-toe design inspired by Kenyan barefoot running. With the SKIMS makeover, the model receives a modern refresh while keeping its bold DNA intact.
The debut NikeSKIMS footwear collection begins rolling out on Monday, Jan. 26. Mesh pairs in "Black," "Velvet Brown," and "Archaeo Brown" will release through SKIMS.com, Nike SNKRS, and select retailers.
