Kevin Durant’s sixth signature sneaker is set for a long-awaited return next year, with the Nike KD 6 "Meteorology" expected to release during Fall 2026. Originally released in 2013, the colorway quickly became one of the most recognizable from Durant’s early Nike era, inspired by his childhood dream of becoming a meteorologist.
The KD 6 "Meteorology" stood out for its black and Atomic Red color scheme, accented with weather map-inspired graphics across the upper — a nod to radar patterns and storm visuals. The low-cut silhouette introduced a lightweight, aerodynamic build with a streamlined upper, a sharp departure from the bulkier basketball models of its time. Featuring a mix of synthetic materials, a full-length Zoom Air unit, and Flywire support, the sneaker balanced performance and visual storytelling effortlessly.
More than a decade later, Nike looks to recapture that nostalgia with the 2026 reissue. While official images and pricing have yet to surface, the upcoming pair is expected to remain true to the original design blueprint, possibly with subtle material or finish updates. Given the KD 6’s cult following, this re-release will likely be one of the more anticipated retro basketball drops next year.
The Nike KD 6 "Meteorology" is slated to release in Fall 2026. Stay tuned for first looks and official release details in the months ahead.
