NYC’s Most Infamous Resident Inspires This Air Force 1

Nike is leaning into one of New York City’s most infamous residents for an upcoming Air Force 1 Low, with a new pair appearing to draw inspiration from the city’s subway rats.

The pair starts with a dark, heavily textured leather upper before introducing shaggy brown faux fur across the Swoosh, collar, and heel. Even the laces take on a rough, fuzzy finish, giving the otherwise familiar Air Force 1 a much more unusual look.

The New York connection becomes clearer through the smaller details. “NYC” branding appears on the tongue, while the back of the shoe features a red eye graphic peeking through the furry heel, giving the design a subtle rat-like character without turning the sneaker into a full costume piece.

Brown detailing continues onto the midsole’s “AIR” branding, while a muted translucent reddish/pink outsole adds another hit of color underneath. A metallic lace dubrae finishes off the front.

Nike has yet to confirm the full story or release details behind the pair, but the combination of NYC branding, brown fur, and that hidden red eye makes the inspiration fairly hard to miss. Expect more information on the NYC-themed Nike Air Force 1 Low as its release approaches.
