Kevin Durant’s connection to the University of Texas continues to grow, this time through a new NIL initiative designed to support the next generation of Longhorn athletes. Durant, alongside Nike and the University of Texas, has announced a comprehensive program that will spotlight select student-athletes as they continue their basketball journeys both on and off the court.

The initiative will be tied to Durant’s growing business and media platform, Boardroom, and aims to create meaningful opportunities for Texas athletes through mentorship, brand access, and educational programming. As part of the announcement, Texas women’s basketball star Madison Booker has been introduced as the first athlete under Team KD.

Through the partnership, Booker will receive access to exclusive Nike products tied to Durant’s signature line, including special player-exclusive KD sneakers, apparel, and other gear connected to Nike Basketball. The move further strengthens the relationship between Durant, Nike, and his alma mater, while also placing one of college basketball’s rising stars at the center of the initiative.

Beyond footwear and apparel, the program will also focus heavily on education and professional development. Nike, the University of Texas, and Boardroom will collaborate to host an annual sports business summit designed to give student-athletes insight into the industry surrounding sports, media, and marketing.

The summit will be open to all University of Texas student-athletes as well as sports business students. The goal is to provide hands-on learning opportunities and interactive programming that prepares participants for careers beyond competition.

The inaugural event is expected to take place later in 2026 and will feature a lineup of notable speakers from across the sports and business worlds. Planned programming will include storytelling strategy sessions, financial literacy education, brand-building guidance, and discussions around the evolving business of sports.

For Durant, the program represents another step in giving back to the university where his basketball journey first captured national attention. For Booker, it marks a significant moment as she becomes the first athlete to represent Team KD under the newly announced NIL structure.
