Nike and Bode Rec. are teaming up once again in 2025 to deliver a second collaborative collection, following the success of their debut partnership. This latest release brings two new colorways of the Nike Astrograbber—a revival of one of Nike’s earliest turf shoes—alongside an apparel capsule that continues Emily Bode Aujla’s signature approach to blending sport heritage with contemporary fashion.
At the heart of this campaign is Nike athlete Ja’Marr Chase, who sports both the Black/Tan and Chlorophyll/Black colorways of the Astrograbber, cementing the once-gridiron-exclusive silhouette as a modern-day sportswear staple. The campaign, shot by Eduardo Cerruti and Stephanie Draime in New Orleans, showcases the Astrograbber’s unique fusion of vintage influence and contemporary styling, reinforcing its status as a timeless, everyday sneaker.
First released in 1974 following the success of the Waffle Trainer, the Astrograbber was originally designed for football training before evolving into a broader symbol of Nike’s innovative spirit. For this latest iteration, Bode Rec. elevates the model with premium materials and handcrafted details. The Black version features a woven textile upper that delivers a refined, versatile aesthetic, while the Chlorophyll green leather edition draws inspiration from a pair of Bill Bowerman’s homemade, hand-dyed waffle joggers, which Bode Aujla discovered while visiting the Department of Nike Archives. Both pairs are adorned with metallic gold shoelace charms and arrive in special custom packaging that highlights the collaboration.
“Bode Rec. is a line devoted to the history and evolution of athletic apparel, with a personal tie to football inspired by the time my dad spent playing the sport in high school and college,” says Bode Aujla. “Working with Nike to reimagine the Astrograbber means partnering with such a historic American brand, which really embodies the inspiration behind Bode Rec.”
Nike and Bode Rec. have confirmed that both colorways will release on March 14th via Bode.com, Bode retail stores in Los Angeles and New York City, and a newly opened Bode boutique in Paris. The Black colorway will then see a wider release on March 21st through SNKRS and select Nike and Bode Rec. retail partners. Stay tuned for further updates.
