Peter Moore's Nike Dunk Low design has amassed a gargantuan roster of colorways and makeovers since its debut in 1985. For its latest appearance, the silhouette has opted for a faux crocodile update clad in "Team Red" flair.
Reminiscent of other Nike Sportswear offerings from over the years, the latest take on the 40-year-old basketball sneaker ups the elegant ante. The aforementioned tone shares the spotlight with "Dark Team Red" and "Metallic Gold" tones, but the shoe's real star is the reptile-inspired panels across the upper. Reminiscent of bespoke Air Force 1 pairs from the heyday of the now-defunct 21 Mercer Nike Store (Jeff Staple's Staple Flagship is now there), the Women's Dunk arrives at a fraction of the price given its fake croc skin material. Nevertheless, the mostly-tonal update makes a statement sure to win over some people that had turned their backs to the ubiquitous design.
Firm Nike.com release details have yet to be disclosed, but the "Team Red Croc" pair should launch by the start of October.
