The Nike Zoom Spiridon Caged 2 enjoyed a massive resurgence in 2020, thanks in large part to Stüssy’s collaborative run that catapulted the silhouette back into the spotlight. What followed was a wave of general releases that quickly sold out, turning the early-2000s performance runner into a streetwear staple almost overnight.
Now, following the quiet return of the “Metallic Silver” colorway in mid-2024, another heavy hitter from that era is making its way back to shelves. The bold “Varsity Red” edition is officially set to re-release this week, with pairs landing on April 20.
First introduced as part of the model’s 2020 revival, the “Varsity Red” colorway pairs a mesh base with silver synthetic caging and midfoot overlays. The aggressive red tones at the underlay, branding, and outsole anchor the shoe’s high-energy aesthetic, while the signature Zoom Air cushioning in the heel reinforces its original running DNA.
Those who missed out during the silhouette’s initial hype wave now have a second shot. Look for the Nike Zoom Spiridon Caged 2 “Varsity Red” to drop April 20 on Nike.com and select retailers.
