Nike expands its neuroscience-informed footwear line with the Nike Mind 001 “Blackened Blue,” arriving in April 2026 as part of the brand’s ongoing Mind Science initiative.

Unlike traditional recovery slides or comfort-driven mules, the Nike Mind 001 is rooted in research around how footwear can influence mood and mental state. Developed under the Nike Mind Science Department umbrella, the silhouette is designed to help wearers feel calm, cool, and collected through considered materials, pressure distribution, and visual cues.

The Nike Mind 001 “Blackened Blue” continues that approach with a restrained gradient finish. A deep, near-black navy wraps the upper before subtly fading into a richer blue along the sculpted midsole and outsole. The tonal shift is deliberate rather than loud, reinforcing the model’s focus on balance and composure. Metallic gold Swooshes on the lateral side and forefoot provide a minimal accent without disrupting the shoe’s controlled palette.

Perforations across the vamp enhance airflow, while the contoured footbed works in tandem with the outsole’s circular traction pods to create consistent underfoot sensation. Inside, Nike Mind and Nike Mind Science Department branding appears over a dotted graphic, nodding to the data-driven foundation behind the line.

Notably, “Blackened Blue” stands as one of the early gradient executions for the Mind 001, signaling a broader exploration of color psychology within the collection. The transition from dark navy to blue feels intentional, aligning with tones often associated with focus and clarity.
