A Closer Look at the Upcoming New Balance 983

New Balance has another new lifestyle silhouette on the way, with a fresh look at the upcoming New Balance 983 surfacing ahead of its expected debut later in 2026.

The latest sample comes dressed in a muted blue and dark grey palette. Dark mesh forms the base of the upper, while glossy blue-grey overlays wrap around the toe, midfoot, and heel. An oversized “N” logo anchors the sides, with oval-shaped mesh windows giving the upper a distinctly technical look.

Underfoot, the 983 gets considerably more sculpted. A chunky midsole wraps around exposed ABZORB cushioning pods, giving the shoe a visual connection to the 9060 but still pushing the design in a new, unique direction.

Grey laces and lining keep the colorway relatively restrained, while subtle purple hits appear within the cushioning units. The mix of glossy overlays, open mesh, and exaggerated tooling gives the 983 a decidedly early-2000s running feel without simply recreating an older New Balance model.

Multiple colorways of the New Balance 983 have already surfaced, though New Balance has yet to announce full launch details. The model is expected to release later in 2026, with an exact date and retail price still TBA.
