Game 1 of the 2024-25 NBA Finals is fast-approaching. Ahead of the occasion, the Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his Converse Basketball family have previewed the SHAI 001 "Masi Blue," a pair that honors SGA's younger brother, Thomasi.
Unveiled via social media as other styles have been, the latest take from the League's Most Valuable Player indulges in a tonal blue makeover across its minimal, but futuristic construction. The "Masi Blue" update doesn't feature any specific callout to the younger Gilgeous-Alexander sibling, but marketing material for the hoops sneaker references the former collegiate athlete. Both brothers are signed to the One Star Brand, which will likely give Thomasi Player-Exclusive versions of the SHAI 001.
Firm Converse.com release details for the "Masi Blue" pair have yet to be disclosed by either party involved, but that's expected to change by the start of the 2025-26 campaign. Stay tuned for more information.
In related Nike, Inc. footwear news, the Nike Football catalog continues to expand ahead of the 2026 World Cup hosted across North America.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his Oklahoma City Thunder have had some downtime after sweeping the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the 2024-25 NBA Playoffs. The Canada-native took some of his break to unveil a new colorway of his highly-anticipated Converse SHAI 001.
SGA's debut signature model, which is set to hit retailers throughout fall in a tonal "Butter" look, has quickly become one of the more exciting offerings from under the Nike, Inc. umbrella. Its unorthodox design and personal input from the guard have brought a new aesthetic into the signature basketball footwear space. Its newly-surfaced "Charm Black" finish keeps things uniform across the zippered-upper and modern tooling, with the Thunder superstar sharing that the forthcoming launch draws inspiration from his mother, Charmaine. As written on Instagram, the "Charm Black" SHAI 001 is "elegant, mysterious" and unapologetic—just like his mother. Throughout his time in the NBA, the 26-year-old has displayed much of the same qualities on the biggest stages.
