Kyrie Irving’s footwear journey has been anything but traditional. After parting ways with Nike, the star guard took time away from the sneaker world before joining ANTA, where his signature line has since gained considerable traction. Now, nearly a year after the ANTA KAI 1 hit shelves, Irving has officially unveiled the next chapter in his footwear journey with the Chinese imprint—the ANTA KAI 2.
Revealed during NBA All-Star Weekend practice, the ANTA KAI 2 builds on the prototype wear-test sample that surfaced last year but now appears in full-color blocking for the first time. The model maintains the aggressive, angular structure seen in early previews, but new details bring the design to life.
A mauve and lavender nubuck upper sets the foundation, paired with a furry lace set that gives the shoe a unique textural contrast. Native American-inspired embroidery adorns the profile and tongue, reflecting Irving’s well-documented commitment to his heritage. The eyestay features iridescent green trim, accented by metallic purple pops, while decorative heel details and a Native-patterned midsole trim round out the intricate storytelling. ANTA has since shared that this particular colorway of Irving's second silhouette is called 'Artist on Court.'
Days after lacing up the pair on the NBA hardwood, Irving and his ANTA squad have confirmed that the KAI 2 will debut in its 'Artist on Court' style on Friday, Feb. 28. The sneaker, which fuses the athlete's creativity, "Know Your Power Philosophy," and admiration of ancient Egypt, is priced at $140 and will release via ANTA.com and globally at a select number of retailers.
Also upcoming soon is the Air Jordan 12 "Flu Game" retro.
