Adidas Originals continues its creative reinterpretation of archival silhouettes with a fresh take on the Taekwondo Mei Ballet—this time, introducing a luxurious “Grey Velour” colorway. Following on from the early 2000s-inspired revival of the Taekwondo Mei silhouette, this women's-exclusive release taps into the intersection of sport and lifestyle, blending elegance with low-profile comfort.
The new “Grey Velour” option wraps the model’s sleek upper in a soft, tactile velour fabric, delivering an elevated look and feel that aligns with today’s fashion-forward minimalism. Tonal leather trims along the collar, forefoot strap overlays, and signature Three Stripe detailing reinforce the premium execution, while subtly enhancing the visual depth of the monochrome palette.
Beneath it all sits a solid charcoal sole unit that grounds the design, offering contrast and functionality without sacrificing the shoe’s runway-ready aesthetic. Though simplified in structure, the silhouette remains a distant relative of the original Taekwondo training shoe, now adapted for the street and everyday lifestyle wear.
While the Taekwondo Mei Ballet already made waves in soft blue and white renditions, this “Grey Velour” version arrives with an understated edge, perfect for those looking to diversify their wardrobe with something unique, yet refined.
Expect the Adidas Taekwondo Mei Ballet “Grey Velour” to release in Summer 2025 via adidas.com and select Originals retailers.
