Vans has spent the past year rebuilding momentum through a series of distinctive design experiments. From the viral Old Skool 36 "Souvenir" capsule releases, last year’s La Habana-inspired series, and a string of new pearlized finishes for Spring 2026, the brand has been steadily reintroducing creative material work to some of its most recognizable silhouettes. The latest capsule continues that push with a new woven pack that reinterprets Vans’ most iconic visual signature: the checkerboard.

The new collection centers around four updated takes on the Vans Authentic, each reworking the classic skate staple through textured woven construction. Three of the pairs arrive in uniform checkerboard compositions, replacing the traditional canvas panels with breathable knit-style uppers that add visual depth and a lighter overall feel.

Rounding out the capsule is a fourth design that shifts away from the uniform checkerboard layout entirely. This version features a shell knit construction that exposes sections of the underlying base layer, creating an open grid pattern that transforms the familiar Authentic silhouette into something far more experimental. The layered textile approach adds a dimensional feel that contrasts sharply with the flat patterns used on the other three pairs.

Color plays a major role across the three woven releases. One pair delivers a bold red-and-blue checkerboard arrangement that echoes vintage Americana palettes, while another opts for a traditional black-and-white look set atop a blacked-out sole unit. A third iteration arrives in green and navy, bringing a slightly softer visual contrast that still feels rooted in the brand’s heritage graphics. Each pair sits atop a slightly aged-off-white midsole, reinforcing the subtle vintage styling Vans has explored across several recent releases.

While the checkerboard pattern has been a defining part of Vans’ identity since its rise within punk, rock, and skate scenes in the late 1970s and early 1980s, this pack offers a noticeably different execution that leans more toward textile craft than classic canvas.

The full Vans woven pack is scheduled to release at 00:00 AM CET on March 12th via retailer BSTN, which translates to 7 PM ET on March 11th. While a Stateside launch has not yet been confirmed, the pairs will be available for international shipping through select European retailers.
