Mexico's Chivas Celebrate 120th Anniversary With Special PUMA Jersey

Liga MX side Club Deportivo Guadalajara—also known as simply "Chivas"—is celebrating its 120th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, kit manufacturer PUMA has put together a special-edition jersey that's rooted in tradition.

The partners, who began working together in 2016, teased the celebratory shirt via a short clip posted to social media. Diehard fans of one of Mexico's most-decorated clubs had long speculated that the Big Cat Brand would launch a 120th anniversary design for their favorite team. Most mock-ups guessed that the final design would harken back to the oldest crest in Chivas' history. Suspicions were proven true as the promotional video for the project highlighted the club's "CG" emblem, which indulges in a rich blue tone and appears on the lower-center of the jersey.

The remainder of Chivas' 120th anniversary jersey sees alternating red-and-white stripes all throughout, as well as a henley shirt-like collar. "Rebaño Sagrado appears where a size tag usually goes, while "1906" and "2026" callouts land on the sleeve cuffs. Lastly, a "120 Aniversario" badge is placed on the back of the neck area, commemorating the milestone celebration in style.
