If you visit New York City's outer boroughs, Philadelphia, and other urban settings, it's likely you'll see a pair of the ASICS GT-2160™ on the feet of teenagers and young adults. Debuted in 2011 as a budget-friendly running sneaker, the design has gone on to shift footwear trends, allowing the Japanese institution to open up its archives to revive other performance trainers from its past.
Ahead of summer, the popular GT-2160™ has emerged in varying shades of silver and grey, creating a look that plays into its Y2K-associated aesthetic. Not too dissimilar from the Silver Surfer-inspired GEL-KAYANO® 14 by Kith, the pair features a greyscale finish across its mix of breathable mesh and synthetic leather overlays. The result is a straightforward, versatile look that still feels fresh despite the silhouette having launched over a decade ago.
Underfoot, the GEL-assisted tooling also indulges in varying shades of silver and grey, with the visible GEL unit at the heel adding some personality to the mix.
Enjoy official photos of the tonal GT-2160™ ahead. Pairs should release via ASICS.com by the beginning of autumn.
