In remembrance of legendary Brazilian Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, ASICS is releasing a special edition of the GEL-Kayano 14 to honor the 30th anniversary of his passing at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. Senna's tragic death prompted significant changes in car and track safety regulations, a testament to his lasting impact on the sport. This commemorative release coincides with a new Netflix series chronicling Senna's life and legacy, cementing his status as one of motorsport's greatest icons.

Senna's career, which included 41 wins and three world titles, was as celebrated as it was charitable. Renowned not only for his racing accomplishments, Senna’s philanthropy in supporting underprivileged children in Brazil remains a significant part of his legacy. His family has continued his mission through the Instituto Ayrton Senna, an organization founded to carry on his work after his passing.

The GEL-Kayano 14 pays tribute to two of Senna’s most iconic race cars. The Lotus colorway takes inspiration from the John Player Special livery, featuring black and gold accents, while the McLaren colorway nods to the Marlboro-inspired red, white, and black design. Both models include green and yellow tags, a subtle homage to the Brazilian flag and Senna’s famous helmet, placed at the top of the quarter panel — symbolizing where a driver’s head would be in a car. Additionally, the McLaren edition features the text “Ayrton Senna” in Japanese on the lateral heel, while the Lotus version is marked with the powerful phrase “Seek Your Truth.”

Releasing on December 9th in Brazil and worldwide on December 10th, these limited-edition sneakers capture Senna’s iconic style and serve as a tribute to his unmatched legacy both on and off the track.
