Arc’teryx's Walk Gently Indigenous Platform Launches '26 "Salish Winter" Capsule

Arc'teryx founded Walk Gently in Summer 2024 as a platform to celebrates, honor, and amplify the voices of Indigenous artists and designers. Created in collaboration with Cole Sparrow-Crawford, a member of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) nation, the initiative has produced campaigns and product capsules rooted in Coast Salish traditions.

Recently, the collaborative effort presented the 2026 "Salish Winter" Collection as a continuation of the platform and a commitment from Arc'teryx to further invest in xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) communities originally from the place now known as Vancouver, B.C., Canada (and the surrounding area)

For the latest Walk Gently range, Sparrow-Crawford and team honor Salish culture by drawing from winter traditions—specifically the technical design practices that stem from the season.

"Winter in Salish culture is a time when community comes together, celebrations occur, and an essential way of life begins — one that connects people to the land," shared Sparrow-Crawford in an official announcement for the collection. "From our Salish sweater design that honours our rich history of weaving and textile development to our unique camo pattern that blends into the forests of Salish territory, these designs are about connecting with the land, celebrating our winter traditions, and respecting the animals that support our way of life."

The 2026 "Salish Winter" Collection consists of six gender-neutral designs, with the pièce de résistance being the Dekoi Jacket. The $1,000 hardshell takes its name from a variation of "decoy," which references the jacket’s deer-fur-inspired GORE-TEX.

Other items draw from weaving, hide tanning, and winter harvesting traditions.
