On Jan. 6, Adidas sent shockwaves through the sportswear and motorsports worlds when it announced a multi-year partnership with Formula 1®'s Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Team. In its initial press release, the brand shared that in addition to working on performance gear for the drivers, it'd be launching apparel, footwear, and accessories inspired by the F1 squad, bringing fans closer to their favorite team. Today, the Three Stripes has delivered on its promise, prepping the classic SL 72 in a trio of race-inspired styles.
Part of a larger Adidas Mercedes F1 Collection, the sneaker trifecta blends two distinctly different worlds into one. The old school training model features its signature nylon, suede, and leather construction across the upper, which is accented by the automobile partner's iconic emblem. Teal-colored components land throughout the trio, bringing one of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team's go-to hues to the super light design. Hits of 'Footwear White/Core Black/Silver Metallic' also join the mix, appearing in different amount across the three pairs.
Underfoot, the terrace icons maintain their running-informed sole units, rounding out the collaboration rooted in heritage.
Enjoy detailed looks at the SL 72 trifecta below. All three styles are currently available via Adidas.com for $110 per pair.
