Edison Chen’s move from Nike to adidas has proven to be a more fitting home for his East-meets-West design ethos. From espadrille Stan Smiths to crepe-soled Gazelles, his CLOT imprint has found ample room to breathe at the Three Stripes — and the upcoming CLOT x adidas Superstar “Patchwork” might be his most expressive yet.
True to its name, the shoe features a wild medley of textures and patterns arranged in a deliberate patchwork format. Materials range from corduroy to houndstooth, layered with zig-zag embroidered Three Stripes and contrast stitching across suede overlays. The autumn-ready mix of olive green, rust orange, dark teal, and cream adds warmth to the mash-up construction, while elevated touches, such as two-tone hiking laces and serrated outsoles, provide rugged functionality.
Branding is kept minimal, with gold Chinese characters on the lateral heel and a tonal CLOT logo stamped on the leather heel tab. The signature rubber shell toe remains intact, grounding the design in Superstar tradition while allowing the rest of the shoe to deviate from the script. It's a wearable representation of CLOT’s refined yet playful approach that continues to redefine adidas classics.
The CLOT x adidas Superstar “Patchwork” is expected to release this Fall, though no date has been confirmed. Stay tuned for official details as they emerge.
